Westland Insurance Group has strengthened its commercial market capabilities and presence with the acquisition of National Truck League Insurance Brokers.

Headquartered in London, ON, National Truck League is a speciality transportation brokerage that operates across Canada. It offers products and solutions such as commercial trucking, cargo, disability, travel medical emergency, critical illness, downtime, as well as other select coverages, a release said. The team is led by president Rod Stiller and VP of operations Michele Stiller.

“The acquisition of National Truck League further establishes Westland’s leading presence in the Commercial market and strengthens our capabilities within the transportation sector – a sector that continues to be increasingly vital to the Canadian economy,” commented Westland Insurance president & COO Jamie Lyons.

Lyons noted that National Truck League is dedicated exclusively to the Canadian trucking industry, “with an outstanding reputation and commitment to serving the unique needs of its clients.” The president also said that the team brings their deep vertical expertise and specialized capabilities to Westland.

“National Truck League’s approach fundamentally aligns with our strategy and offering under Westland’s expanding Corporate Advisory and Specialty division,” said Westland EVP commercial & Eastern Canada operations Donna Barclay. “We’re thrilled to welcome Rod and Michelle Stiller and their entire team to the Westland family.”

Last month, Westland acquired two other brokers – EckRim Agencies in Alberta and Wm. Anderson Agencies in BC. According to Lyons, the two agencies are “long standing businesses in their respective communities," and have strong expertise in commercial, personal, auto, and farm insurance.
