The Insurance Brokers Association of Ontario (IBAO) has announced a partnership with the Women in Insurance Cancer Crusade (WICC).

Specifically, the IBAO is partnering with the Ontario provincial chapter of the WICC. As a community partner of WICC Ontario, IBAO will promote the non-profit’s initiatives to its membership of more than 12,000 P&C brokers and the broker community at large.

“Everyone knows someone affected by cancer—that’s certainly true for the team here at the IBAO,” said IBAO director of operations Brett Boadway. “WICC is a very important cause. We’re proud to align with the industry by supporting these worthwhile initiatives and contributing to WICC’s efforts.”

Since its inception in 1996, WICC has raised more than $16.5 million to fund cancer research and education. The Ontario chapter raises funds through various means, mainly via hosting charity events such as golf tournaments in Toronto and Ottawa, an annual gala dinner and the Relay for Life Toronto walkathon. A release said that this year’s relay – produced in partnership with the Canadian Cancer Society – has raised over $380,000 to date.

“We’re very glad to have IBAO as a new partner,” mentioned WICC Ontario co-chair Marilyn Horrick. “Not only do they provide direct support to WICC, they have a very large membership who regularly gives back to their communities. They’re a welcome addition to our network of supporters.”
