Beneva – the insurance mutual born of La Capitale and SSQ Insurance – has announced that it has enhanced the salary conditions of its employees.

In December, the company introduced professional and manager salary scales that are “favourably positioned with respect to those of the Canadian insurance market,” a release said. The scales resulted in direct adjustments to the remuneration of numerous positions and employees.

But now, the proposed remuneration was ratified by Beneva’s unions. Employees represented by the SCFP and CSN unions will have their salaries increase by 3.5% in 2022. A similar increase is set for 2023.

Beneva also announced that all employees are entitled to an improved profit-sharing plan, and new working conditions related to hybrid work setups.

“We are pleased with our competitive remuneration offer, which will enable Beneva to stand out as an employer in the industry. Our generous offer will provide a financial boost in a context where inflation is affecting employees across the country. Investing in its talented individuals allows Beneva to offset the negative impacts of the labour shortage,” said Beneva executive vice president and leader of talent, culture and communication Martin Robert.

Beneva also recently enhanced its group insurance offering by adding coverage for gender-affirming surgery. The coverage will cover for expenses from gender reassignment surgery that are not covered by the public insurance option.
