Employee benefit-focused consulting and brokerage firm Owen & Associates has announced that Michael Owen will take over the role of chief executive officer, while Steven Owen will transition into the position of president.

According to the company, the transfer of responsibilities is part of a “deliberate succession plan,” which would see Michael Owen advise and assist Owen & Associates’ direction and continued growth. He will also take the lead on the firm’s involvement with Benefit Advisors Network (BAN) Canada.

Michael Owen founded Owen & Associates in 1998, and, while serving as its president, he led the company’s business strategy and growth, helping the company hit over 400 clients and more than 200 collaborating partners.

Steven Owen’s promotion to president will see him oversee the firm’s day-to-day operations. He will focus on building upon the “high-quality services and support” that Owen & Associates’ clients rely upon, a Press release said. Steve Owen has over a decade of experience, including several years in the accounting industry and most recently served as vice president of operations.

“Promoting Steven will bring a fresh, modern perspective to our firm and further strengthen our ability to serve the changing and evolving needs of our clients, our employees, and our community, long into the future,” Michael Owen noted. “I’m looking forward to stepping back from day-to-day operations to invest my time into the firm’s over-arching business strategy, as well as becoming more involved in the industry as a whole.”

“I’m excited yet humbled with the opportunity to lead the firm in this next chapter,” said Owen & Associates’ new president Steven Owen. “Our clients, many of whom are global leaders in the technology, finance, and retail industries, depend on us for guidance.  As companies continue to navigate through the disruptions stemming from the pandemic, we want to play an even greater role as a trusted advisor who can step in and solve problems in all aspects of a client’s business while helping them grow and flourish.”

Owen & Associates is one of two founding members to join the Benefit Advisors Network in Canada in April.
