Western Financial Group has acquired the Camrose, AB-based insurance brokerage Central Agencies.

Founded in 1963, Central Agencies is an insurance and real estate brokerage that serves families and businesses in east-central Alberta. As an insurance brokerage, the company helps its clients with their property, auto, and recreational insurance needs. Central Agencies also handles business and farm insurance, as well as life & health coverage.

“This partnership is a great fit for us and will further strengthen our presence in Alberta,” said Western Financial Group president and CEO Kenny Nicholls. “Central Agencies is a reputable local broker with strong ties to the community, great business relationships, and is an organization that shares our values.”

“Considering the evolving conditions in our industry, joining Western Financial Group became the right next step for our business,” said Central Agencies founder and owner Norman Mayer. “We are grateful to have served the Camrose community for nearly 60 years. Together we will carry on our legacy and continue representing our values here in Camrose. We are excited for the opportunities this partnership will bring to our people, business, and the community.”

Western Financial Group is a subsidiary of Trimont Financial – itself a subsidiary of The Wawanesa Mutual Insurance Company. Earlier this year, Western Financial acquired the full-service insurance brokerage Wiesner Insurance in Brampton, ON.
