Akshay Subramanian started working with Delta as an underwriting intern in 2014 while he was completing a Bachelor of Commerce/Bachelor of Arts conjoint degree from the University of Auckland, majoring in Accounting, Commercial Law and Statistics. Joining full-time in January 2017, Subramanian has been a significant contributor to the underwriting team during the entirety of his time with the company. Currently, his role includes broker relationship management, quoting policies, responding to broker queries, assisting with the development of new liability products and risk management tools, researching and writing white papers and management reporting and analysis.
He has also been actively involved in looking after broker relationships across multiple liability lines – a responsibility that he has welcomed and managed exceptionally well. Further to this, Subramanian has been an active member of YIPs since 2017 and joined its organising committee in October 2019. These are both closely tied with his goal to become a leading underwriter in the insurance industry, both in New Zealand and globally. Given his leadership qualities, comprehensive understanding of liability products, high aspirations and determination to succeed, it seems likely that he’ll achieve his goals.
