Aon Reinsurance Solutions has appointed Metat Sae-Jan as head of life and health reinsurance in Thailand. Sae-Jan joins from XEL Advisory, a Bangkok-based strategy consultancy serving Thai life insurers, where he held a partner role for two years and eight months, according to his LinkedIn profile.
The hire places an insurer-side specialist rather than a reinsurance broker at the head of Aon's L&H desk in Thailand. Demand for advisory expertise across risk management, capital optimisation, and product strategy is rising among Thai life insurers. Sae-Jan will be based in Bangkok.
Sae-Jan brings around 15 years of experience across Thailand's life insurance market. His career spans actuarial, economic capital, financial planning, and product strategy roles at AIA Thailand, AIA Group Hong Kong, FWD Insurance Thailand, and Prudential Life Assurance Thailand.
At Prudential Thailand, he served as head of product strategy from October 2020 to November 2023. He led partnership acquisitions and drove a 50% increase in protection product sales. He earlier held a manager role at AIA Thailand, where he led the economic capital function, then moved to a manager role at AIA Group in Hong Kong.
At XEL Advisory, Sae-Jan worked with insurer clients across strategy development, sales force effectiveness, risk management, digital transformation and operational model redesign. He holds a bachelor of science in statistics and insurance from Chulalongkorn University, Bangkok.
The appointment is the latest in a series of hires Aon Reinsurance Solutions has made in Thailand in 2026. In June, the broker added two treaty directors, Chettanart Boonphayoong and Yawapa Thiamthom, from Lockton Wattana Insurance Brokers. "Thailand is a key growth market for us in APAC, and we are committed to bringing the best talent and capabilities to our clients and partners here," said Musa Adlan, managing director of Aon Reinsurance Solutions Asia.
Aon's Thailand activity is part of a broader regional L&H strategy. In April 2025, Aon appointed Pierre Vende and Danny Alexander as co-heads of life and health reinsurance solutions for Asia-Pacific. In July 2026, the broker also appointed Matthew Chae, a former TAL Australia actuarial executive, as growth leader for life and health reinsurance in Korea.
Thailand's life insurers have faced growing capital and reporting pressure from regulatory reforms tied to risk-based frameworks and international accounting standards. Reinsurance solutions are increasingly used to manage capital efficiency, balance sheet exposure and long-term liability obligations across the sector.
