Ariel Re has promoted staff across technical and underwriting functions, including capital modelling, catastrophe analytics, portfolio management, and property underwriting, in a series of appointments across its Bermuda and London offices.
Within underwriting, Giovanni Maccioni (pictured left) has been promoted to SVP, underwriter, and Carolina Medeiros to underwriter. Louise Andrews (pictured center) and Megan Zimmerer (pictured right) have been promoted to assistant underwriter. The company had earlier confirmed the promotion of Sarah Morgan from SVP, property underwriting, to head of property.
The Morgan appointment forms part of a set of leadership changes within the property unit, with the role effective April 1, 2026. She succeeds Mike Cornish, who remains with the firm in a role focused on strategy, product development, and special projects. Reed Gaglio was also named head of E&S property reinsurance, indicating a defined leadership structure across property lines.
In actuarial roles linked to capital modelling, Jack Strong has been promoted to deputy head of capital modelling, while Will Ross has been named senior actuarial analyst.
Across analytics and technology, Kristy Schwaegerl has been appointed SVP, head of infrastructure services, and Simon Wray as SVP, head of application services. Neil Pohlman has been promoted to VP, head of portfolio planning, Roman Sklyar to VP, technical lead, and Brian Darling to VP, head of portfolio management. Valentina Putrino has been promoted to senior analyst in catastrophe analytics, and Rahul Choudhry to senior software developer.
In capital and risk, Andy Kerr has been promoted to SVP, capital, and Alan Pittendrigh to VP, PMO and risk.
The appointments span functions tied to modelling, analytics, and portfolio oversight, areas that remain central to underwriting performance and capital allocation in reinsurance.
Finance and operations changes include Grace Sousa, who has been promoted to SVP, head of operations. Neil Figureido and Tiago Ferreira have both been promoted to reinsurance analyst, while Rhys Callely has been named senior syndicate accountant.
The promotions cover actuarial, analytics, finance, operations, risk technology, and underwriting roles across Ariel Re’s Bermuda and London offices. The company operates globally with additional presence in Hong Kong.
The internal promotions follow additional hiring activity in the property reinsurance segment. Industry reports in March 2026 noted the appointment of Sierra Dietz as underwriter in the property reinsurance division. She joined from Sompo, where her roles included claims, catastrophe modelling, and underwriting, most recently serving as reinsurance underwriter from March 2025.
Her prior experience also included positions at Willis Towers Watson and XL Catlin in Bermuda.
Ariel Re has described its structure as an “academy firm”, with internal promotions forming part of its approach to workforce development.
“These promotions demonstrate Ariel Re’s approach to nurturing talent within the business,” said Ryan Mather, chief executive officer of Ariel Re. “As part of our ‘academy firm’ approach, it is vital we continue to invest in our people, recognize performance, and support the development of our colleagues across the organization. We want to thank each of these individuals for their contributions to the success of Ariel Re and congratulate them on their promotions.”
