Specialty reinsurance group Compre has announced the appointment of Rachel Bardon (pictured above) as chief underwriting officer, effective Sept. 1.

In the newly created role, Bardon will be a part of Compre’s executive committee. She will be based in Bermuda and will report to group CEO Will Bridger. Bardon will also join the board of Pallas Reinsurance Company, Compre’s Bermuda-domiciled reinsurer. Both roles are subject to regulatory approval, Compre said in a news release.

In her new role, Bardon will oversee Compre’s business development activities, including new business origination, reinsurance underwriting and transaction execution. She will also be responsible for strategic market development.

Bardon brings 25 years of experience to the role. She joins Compre from Hudson Structured Capital Management (HSCM), where she most recently served as partner, chief investment officer of insurance credit and deputy chief investment officer of reinsurance for HSCM’s reinsurance activities. Bardon is a qualified actuary.

“I am delighted to welcome Rachel to Compre,” Bridger said. “Her deep industry experience spans the spectrum of capital and liability solutions for cedants in our market, from prospective to retrospective underwriting. She will also bring a wider investment focus to the business. Her strong commercial background will strengthen Compre’s capability as we continue to seek further growth in our core North American market.”
