Lockton Re has expanded its leadership team with two key appointments in London and Brazil, reinforcing its specialty and Latin America & Caribbean (LAC) reinsurance capabilities.
Tom Meyer (pictured above) has joined Lockton Re as head of the specialty division in London, taking over from Paul Upton, who will transition to chairman of the division.
Keith Harrison, International CEO of Lockton Re, said the specialty lines division has seen significant growth over the past five years. He emphasized that in a highly active geopolitical landscape, specialist expertise, thought leadership, and tailored reinsurance solutions are increasingly important.
In Brazil, Rodrigo Botti has joined Lockton Re as treaty country head, based in São Paulo, as part of the LAC team. Botti has held senior positions in the Brazilian reinsurance sector, including vice president, CFO, and chief actuarial and technology officer at IRB Re.
He was also the founding partner and CEO of Terra Brasis Resseguros and represented Patria Re in Brazil. His background includes investment banking, with a focus on structured financial instruments. He holds an engineering degree from USP, an MBA from the University of Chicago, and an Associate in Reinsurance (ARe) designation from CPCU.
Tom Cunningham, co-CEO of Lockton Re’s LAC reinsurance treaty business, said Brazil is a key market for the region and that Botti’s experience will strengthen the company’s treaty practice. He noted that Lockton Re continues to invest in talent and capabilities to meet client and market demands.
In December 2024, Edward Tyler joined Lockton Re's retrocession and property specialty team. Tyler previously served as a non-marine retrocession broker at Willis Re, enhancing Lockton Re's capabilities in these areas.
As for the LatAm region, the re/insurance broker also appointed Aldo Mendieta as treaty country head for Mexico and regional treaty leader of life, accident, and health for Latin America and the Caribbean in July 2024. Mendieta has over 20 years of reinsurance experience.
