Allianz employees raised money for the mental health charity Mind by abseiling the ArcelorMittal Orbit in London last week.

Mind chief executive Paul Farmer joined Allianz Holdings CEO Jon Dye and 16 Allianz employees as they undertook the 80-metre descent as part of the latest challenge organised by the insurance giant’s employees to support Mind and the Scottish Association for Mental Health (SAMH).

Since the start of the charity partnership in 2019, Allianz employees have raised more than £842,000, getting closer to their target of £1 million in three years.

Aside from supporting mental health organisations, Allianz also supports environmentally-friendly initiatives. Last week, the insurer announced it had joined a coalition of over 80 UK businesses that signed an open letter calling on Prime Minister Boris Johnson to show “strong domestic leadership” in acting on climate change.

The letter, coordinated by the Business Group Alliance for Net Zero (BGA), indicated that the businesses support climate action and stressed the need for the British government to formulate a coherent, integrated, and Treasury-supported plan to achieve net-zero carbon emissions.
