To say that Insurance Day of Giving 2019 has been a huge success is perhaps an understatement.

This year the industry event, which took place on November 07, saw nearly 60 firms participate to raise a whopping £90,000. What’s also noteworthy is that, according to the organisers, funds are still coming in from the fundraiser.

“When we launched the Insurance Day of Giving last year we couldn’t have imagined that the industry would take it to its heart so quickly, and with such enthusiasm,” stated Insurance United Against Dementia chair Chris Wallace, who is also executive director for Continental Europe at QBE Insurance.

“There has been an incredible response from our colleagues across the industry, raising vital awareness alongside those all-important funds that will support breakthroughs in dementia research.”

The 2019 proceeds are enough to pay for an entire PhD project aimed at researching the cause of dementia as well as its cure and prevention.

“I am so grateful to everyone who took part in this year’s event – whether that’s through dress down days, bake sales, or by taking on a challenge,” Wallace went on to say. “Every single pound helps, and together, we are showing that the insurance industry is truly a force for good.”
