It looks like the inaugural “Insurance Day of Giving” is off to a good start.

The November 08 fundraising event, which is part of the Insurance United Against Dementia (IUAD) campaign, now has the backing of more than 30 insurance firms. The campaign, which is an Alzheimer’s Society initiative, aims to raise £10 million in the next five years to support dementia research.

“Insurance Day of Giving” participants so far include The AA, A Plan, Action 365, Admiral, The Ardonagh Group, Aston Lark, Autonet Insurance, Aviva, Bollington, Carole Nash, Covéa, CNA Hardy, Crawford & Company, The Chartered Insurance Institute, Ecclesiastical, Freedom Brokers, JLT Specialty, Minton House Group, PIB, Pukka Insure, QBE, R10, Stackhouse Poland, Touchstone Underwriting, THB Group, and Zurich.

“I’m delighted to see IUAD going from strength to strength, and by uniting on November 08, we can all be a part of this remarkable campaign, demonstrating just how powerful we are as an industry,” commented Aviva’s Phil Bayles, IUAD board member. “We have the capacity to make a lasting and positive impact on society, so sign up, and be a part of something special.”

Those who are supporting the cause can make a personal or company donation, or run a fundraising event at their offices.

“By uniting with Alzheimer’s Society through our Insurance United Against Dementia initiative and taking part in the ‘Insurance Day of Giving’, the sector is leading the way in tackling stigma and empowering people affected to live the lives they want, and funding our world-leading research to improve care and ultimately find a cure,” said Alzheimer’s Society chief executive Jeremy Hughes.
