Insurance industry unites for vital cause

Non-Profits & Charities

Most people in the insurance industry will be quick to tell you that their favourite part of the job is the satisfaction of helping their clients get some relief during a time of often great distress. However, with great frequency the industry goes above and beyond that day job to do something for a special cause – and rarely is that clearer than today.

That’s because today marks the third annual Insurance Day of Giving in aid of Alzheimer’s Society and the campaign, Insurance United Against Dementia.

The campaign brings together firms from across the industry, including the likes of RSA, Sedgwick, Crawford & Company, Willis Towers Watson and more, to raise awareness and funding for the society.

Among those to give generously is the Zurich Community Trust (ZCT), the charitable arm of Zurich UK, which has offered to match pound for pound the first £25,000 raised on the day.

“I am delighted that ZCT will be supporting everyone’s donations to go further on the Insurance Day of Giving by matching the first £25,000 raised,” said Steve Grimmett, head of ZCT. “Through this initiative, we are pleased to be able to support colleagues across the industry in their efforts to raise funds and make a difference. Together, we can ensure more people affected by dementia have the support they so desperately need and deserve as they navigate the ongoing pandemic.”

Meanwhile, Crawford & Company, along with the Chartered Institute of Loss Adjusters, has organised a ‘Loss Adjusting Mastermind’ that sees seven contestants from across the UK compete for the title while raising funds.

There is still time for individuals and businesses to sign up for the Insurance Day of Giving or to pledge personal support at: https://justgiving.com/campaign/IUADDAY20.
