A total of £5,000 has been raised by insurance broker Russell Scanlan for its 2019 chosen charity, the Alzheimer’s Society.

“Every penny donated to Alzheimer’s Society is making sure we can be there for people living with dementia,” said Olly Larkin (pictured, second from left), the charity’s community fundraiser for the East Midlands. “For every £1 of expenditure, 89p is spent on improving the lives of people with dementia. The remaining 11p is spent on supporting frontline activities.

“With the generous support of Russell Scanlan raising an incredible £5,000, Alzheimer’s Society will make even greater progress towards our vision of a world without dementia. We are the only UK charity investing in research into dementia care, cause, cure, and prevention. We’ve committed to spending £150 million on cutting-edge research over the next decade.”

The Nottingham-based business held various fundraising events throughout 2019, including bake sales, holiday raffles, a Christmas Jumper day, and the company’s annual Charity Quiz Night at Trent Bridge. Meanwhile commercial account handler Bridget Knowles (pictured, second from right) contributed over £550 by running her first Robin Hood half-marathon.

“Alzheimer’s Society is a brilliant charity which carries out vital work in supporting people with dementia,” commented Russell Scanlan managing director Bryan Banbury (pictured, first from left). “I’m delighted that we’ve been able to raise such a significant sum towards providing more support as well as funding much needed research.

“I’d like to say a big thank you to our staff and the many local businesses who have shown their support for our fundraising efforts.”
