AXA Insurance has snapped up a new recruit from fellow insurer RSA, it has been revealed today.

Alan Scott is to join AXA as its new regional director for the South, replacing Linda Courtney who is retiring after 28 years with the company.

Scott, who will officially take up the role in July, joined RSA in 2003 and most recently served as south regions director for the company. The move will see him report into Nick Watson, who joined AXA from Arista earlier this month in the newly-created role of director of commercial distribution and trading.

“AXA Commercial is going through an exciting period of change, where we are growing our business and building a new team,” commented Jon Walker, executive managing director of AXA Commercial.

“Following the arrival of Nick Watson earlier this month, I am delighted that Alan has also agreed to join AXA. Alan will move into the role seamlessly given his experience. He knows what the role requires and brings some very strong broker relationships with him,” he said.

Scott joined RSA through its graduate programme and has since held a number of roles in the UK and the US, including stints as sales director for the insurer’s European risk solutions business and leader of the UK regional professional & financial risks P&L team.

AXA’s retiring director Courtney began her career as a claims handler with Guardian Royal Exchange in 1990 and held a number of roles in claims and learning and development before taking up management posts in the commercial branch network, ultimately taking on the role of regional director for the South in 2015.

Walker described Courtney as having made a “a tremendous contribution to AXA over the past 28 years,” adding that the company would like to thank her personally for her service.
