Broking group Aston Lark has acquired specialist commercial broker Michael James Insurance & Property Services (MJI), it has been revealed.

Kent-based MJI has GWP of approximately £2.5 million and specialises in both the care and real estate sectors. The business, which serves more than 1,000 clients, is led by Ian Andrew and Michael Allbutt, who will remain with the firm initially. MJI’s staff will move over to Aston Lark’s existing Maidstone office in the coming months.

The deal is the second acquisition this year for Aston Lark following its purchase of Stourbridge-based Ingram Hawkins and Nock.

“Ian and Michael have worked hard over the years to create a strong business with high quality independent client service at its heart – we look forward to building on this and we are confident the team will fit in really well to their new home,” said Peter Blanc, group chief executive of Aston.

“Their specialist knowledge of the care sector was a particular attraction for us and we will be looking to build on this and expand our involvement in this sector going forward,” he said.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
