Haul In One (HIO), which reports an “unprecedented increase in popularity” over the past 12-month period, is gearing up for continued acceleration in 2019.

The Direct Commercial Ltd (DCL) specialist book and bonus facility for commercial vehicles allows brokers with a DCL agency to quote and bind new business for between one and 10 commercial vehicles. This year the portal will be expanded to enable the online processing of mid-term adjustments and renewals.

“We have enjoyed fantastic success in 2018 as the product has become more widely known,” said DCL schemes head Michael Dickinson. “We have also made important changes which have enhanced the results for an already excellent year via the expansion of the acceptance criteria to up to 10 vehicles on a single policy and the introduction of a discount for previous driving experience.

“Overall however there is quite simply nothing else like HIO in the market at this moment in time.”

According to Adam Marsh, head of agency & development, the facility has been set up “to operate a little differently” in that they are very careful about what they write.

“We strongly believe that insurance should be an ongoing relationship between client, broker, and insurer and so unlike some other markets we won’t simply look to come off cover if the 10-vehicle limit is reached,” noted Marsh.

“We offer a roadmap for client growth and will happily consider a fleet option once a client has been insured with us for a year and the policy has grown to a certain level.”

The facility, which called 2018 a record-breaking year, also features trailer cover, foreign use, and a broad acceptance of motoring convictions and previous claims.

“The ability to insure a single small van all the way up to a small fleet of 44T HGVs, Tippers, Skip Carriers, or Tankers in any combination has really struck a chord with our brokers and we are seeing a number of agents transition HIO to becoming their primary portal for obtaining multi-vehicle quotes,” added Dickinson.

“While we don’t write new ventures, the fact we can accommodate most occupations as well as hazardous goods risks in addition to hauliers & couriers has been a huge bonus.”
