Breakdown assistance provider RAC has bolstered its product selection with the adoption of IT consulting firm CGI’s insurance rating and underwriting software.

By using the Ratabase platform, RAC becomes the first breakdown provider to offer real-time fleet and specialist vehicle breakdown insurance using multiple rating factors.

The software also allows the firm’s brokers to provide a more accurate breakdown of products specific to customer requirements.

“[Ratabase has] allowed us to expand the range of breakdown solutions for brokers at the click of a button,” said Adam Culley, head of insurance partners at RAC. “RAC can now provide brokers with a complete range of vehicle types and cover levels, from mopeds to the largest HGVs, all under one policy.”

“Ratabase will allow the RAC to bring in as many risk factors as possible, allowing them to offer an accurately priced offering to the businesses who rely on them for their breakdown cover,” said Juliette Lockstone, vice-president and head of insurance of UK financial services at CGI. “Development was a unique experience as we delivered the project under lockdown with both teams working incredibly hard to achieve the results needed.”
