AXA XL names new head of energy for the UK & Lloyd’s market

Having held several roles with AXA XL since making the switch from Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty back in 2018, Nicola Harris (pictured) is ready to step up the ladder once more.

Harris has been promoted to head of energy for the UK and Lloyd’s market, and will be responsible for the UK energy book, while also executing strategy and designing insurance solutions for energy clients.

“Global economic uncertainty resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic has significantly affected the global energy market, which was already facing several headwinds,” said chief underwriting officer for marine, energy & aerospace for the UK & Lloyd’s market, Peter Welton. “Having the right team in place is an integral part of our commitment to our clients, as they manage the associated risks today and in the future.

“I am delighted that Nicola will be taking on the role. Nicola has more than 20 years’ experience in the energy insurance sector, both on the broking and underwriting side, and I have every confidence that her high level of knowledge and experience gained throughout her career positions her ideally to lead the team.”

Harris was previously the regional head of energy and marine at AGCS and has also held roles at Marsh. She succeeds Peter Welton, who was promoted to chief underwriting officer for marine, energy & aerospace, UK and Lloyd’s market, earlier in the year.
