James Green (pictured) has made the switch from his renewable energy class underwriter role at Novae to his new remit as senior underwriter for downstream energy at International General Insurance Holdings Limited (IGI).

Strengthening its energy proposition, the international specialist commercial insurer and reinsurer has tapped Green to work on growing and developing a focused renewable energy and conventional power portfolio with large corporate clients or Independent Power Providers.

“I am excited to be joining a company that is growing in both size and reputation, to assist and broaden the capabilities of their already successful downstream energy team,” commented the key hire, whose experience includes eight years at JLT and seven at XL Insurance.

Based in the London office, Green will report to downstream energy head Hassane Rhazouani and energy head Graham Hensman.

“I am delighted to welcome someone of James’s calibre to the team in London,” said Hensman. “IGI has always had a strong focus on the renewable energy and power sectors, and James will help us to expand this further.

“He brings a wealth of technical skill in both onshore and offshore renewable energy, and utility-scale power projects, which is a great addition to the team at IGI.”
