HDI Global Specialty SE UK has moved into the fine art market with the appointment of Nick Brett (pictured) as head of fine art.

Brett joins with immediate effect and will be responsible for overseeing the growth of the new line of business for the insurer. A veteran in the fine art market, Brett spent a total of 19 years at AXA, progressing from development underwriter to the role of chief executive of AXA Art UK in 2015. Prior to AXA Art, Brett worked as a fine art broker and non-marine property and casualty reinsurance broker.

“I’ve seen the growth in scale and ambition of HDI Global Specialty SE over the last 12 months; I’m pleased to be able to bring my experience and market knowledge to its newest line of business,” said Brett.

Richard Taylor, managing director of HDI Global Specialty SE UK, said that Brett is one of the “most experienced and able fine art underwriters in the London market.”

“He’s known for being a commercially and technically astute lead underwriter,” said Taylor. “I am looking forward to working with him as we build out our fine art book and capabilities.”
