Displaced resident faces repair delays for flood-hit home

Catastrophe & Flood

A Birmingham resident is facing a double whammy after being displaced by floods last month.

A report by the BBC said Trevor Thomas has not returned to his property, after being rescued in May, amid repair delays. Thomas, who has a muscular disease, saw himself spending three nights on his mother’s sofa before moving to a nursing home following the incident.

According to the report, property manager Waterloo Housing Group was waiting for information from the resident’s unnamed insurer before repairs could be carried out.

Meanwhile Thomas’s mother was cited as describing the flood victim as “traumatised”.

It’s not clear how much longer Thomas would have to stay in a nursing home, and whether his coverage would foot the bill.
