There have been plenty of “industry firsts” in insurance over the last couple of years as a wave of insurtechs attempts to shake-up the way we do business. Now you can add another to the list – with London-based Urban Jungle attempting to revamp the home insurance market.

The firm has announced a partnership programme and API designed to “help renters and sharers access their products more easily.”

“We want it to be as easy as possible for people to get their home insurance sorted at exactly the time they need it, and we’re looking forward to working with a number of like-minded companies who want to broaden their customer offering,” said CEO Jimmy Williams. “We think the future of financial services will be an open one, where products are offered ‘incontext’, and this launch is a major step in helping our partners do just that.”

So how does it work?

The programme allows companies to offer Urban Jungle’s insurance products and leverages technology to ensure they remain compliant without the need for being directly FCA-regulated. The API allows partners to serve insurance quotes within their own apps creating a “low friction customer experience.” The concept has already gone live through CreditLadder – and its CEO Sheraz Dar is satisfied with the experience.

“CreditLadder is focused on supporting tenants,” he explained. “Together with helping tenants improve their credit history we’re delighted to offer them great value contents insurance through Urban Jungle. The integration has been seamless and adds an important element to the CreditLadder offering.”
