Willis IRM Group has made a double swoop – picking up specialist insurance broker Playle Russell, along with its online brand Thatchline.

The Ashurst-based firm was established as a family-run business more than two decades ago, and specialises in both private home insurance and thatch home insurance. Meanwhile, the online brand is noted for insuring some of the finest historic buildings across the country.

“The acquisition of Playle Russell (Specialist Risks) and Thatchline complements our existing personal lines and specialist business and supports our ongoing exciting growth plans,” said Willis IRM Group managing director Richard Willis (pictured).

“We’re pleased to welcome Richard Playle, Tom Barclay and Pat Diaper to our wider Willis IRM team. I have no doubt that the experience they will bring to the table will further increase our offering to clients.”

Willis noted that the company would “continue” to seek opportunities to grow, while Richard Playle stated his team was looking forward to the merger.

“I know the group share the same values as Playle Russell, particularly in delivering high levels of service and engraining a work ethos into colleagues which revolves around the needs of our clients,” he said.

“The breadth of services that Willis IRM provide to clients will greatly enhance the Playle Russell/Thatchline offering.”
