Canopius, a global specialty (re)insurer, has appointed Laura Burke (pictured) as the US head of cyber and technology, the company announced Wednesday. Burke steps into the role after serving as executive vice president for cyber and technology since joining Canopius in 2020.
A news release highlighted that this appointment underscores Canopius’ continued focus on expanding its presence in the US cyber insurance market. The company emphasized Burke’s contributions to its cyber strategy and operations as pivotal to its success in addressing the challenges posed by evolving cyber threats.
“Canopius is at the forefront of the constantly evolving cyber risk management landscape globally and in the US as a major focus of our strategic growth plans,” said Lisa Davis, CEO of Canopius US & Bermuda. “Laura has been instrumental in building out our strategy and capabilities, and I’m thrilled to have her deep cyber expertise and underwriting experience leading the company in proactively developing solutions to meet growing policyholder needs.”

Canopius has built a reputation in cyber risk management, offering tailored solutions to address challenges such as ransomware and other emerging threats. The company redesigned its primary cyber coverage in 2023, focusing on providing flexible and comprehensive protection for businesses. With its resources in threat intelligence, analytics, and incident management, Canopius aims to meet the increasing demand for personalized cyber insurance in the US.
