Juniper Re, the specialist reinsurance broking division of The Baldwin Group, has announced its expansion into the London market with the appointment of Nick Hawke (pictured above) as head of the newly established office.
Hawke brings more than 40 years of reinsurance experience in the London market and will lead the firm’s strategic growth in the region.
Juniper Re says that London’s status as a central hub for the global reinsurance industry, known for its extensive market expertise and capacity, positions the company to broaden its service offerings and enhance access to market insights and talent.
The company’s move into London is part of a broader strategy to expand its capabilities and better serve its clients with specialized reinsurance solutions.
Hawke’s career includes senior leadership roles at Guy Carpenter and Willis Re (now Gallagher Re), where he focused on property treaty placements and led teams in delivering complex reinsurance solutions. His industry experience and market relationships are expected to support Juniper Re in building a solid presence in the London market.
Jeff Irvan, president of Juniper Re, said Hawke’s extensive experience and established network in London make him well-suited to lead the company’s expansion.
“Expanding into London is a major milestone for us and reflects our ongoing commitment to meeting the needs of our clients. With Nick’s leadership and insight, I am confident we will establish a thriving operation that embodies Juniper Re’s values of collaboration, innovation, and creativity,” Irvan said.
Hawke expressed enthusiasm for leading Juniper Re’s London office, emphasizing the firm’s growth, approach to innovation, and client-focused strategy.
“I’m thrilled to lead the effort to build a strong London presence and contribute to Juniper Re’s mission of delivering genuine impact. London is a unique and vital market in the global reinsurance landscape, and I look forward to collaborating with the talented team at Juniper Re to develop creative, data-driven solutions that meet our clients’ evolving needs,” Hawke said.
This move into the London market follows other strategic expansions by Juniper Re. The firm recently entered the Bermuda market with the appointment of Chris Hayward and expanded into the facultative, parametric, and Bermuda wholesale sectors with hires including Russ Wagner, Nick Pewter, and Becky Lucking.
