Global professional services firm Aon, in line with its ‘Aon United’ growth strategy, has tapped a company veteran to take on the role of global chief executive of Commercial Risk Solutions.

Lambros Lambrou has been with the brokerage giant for three decades, with a career described by the UK-headquartered enterprise as a true embodiment of Aon United.

His previous positions include CEO of Aon Risk Solutions Australia, chief executive of the global broking centre in London, chief broking officer in EMEA (Europe, the Middle East, and Africa), as well as global chief operating officer for Aon Broking.

Assuming the Commercial Risk Solutions CEO role from Mike O’Connor – who was named Aon co-president last year – Lambrou will also retain his remit as the unit’s chief commercial officer and chief executive of global specialties. Currently he is based in the New York office.

Co-president Eric Andersen believes the appointment will further strengthen the Aon United growth strategy by increasing company-wide collaboration as Aon accelerates the development of new value sources.

“I’m energised by the opportunity to work across our firm to bring the best of Aon to our clients,” commented Lambrou. “I look forward to helping clients minimise volatility and better manage their risk exposure to maximise performance.”

Meanwhile O’Connor, who called his successor a widely respected and collaborative leader, cited the latter’s broad experience spanning risk management, broking, and specialty strategy, as well as Lambrou’s commitment to innovating and leveraging data and analytics.
