Daniel Byrne has moved from Aspen Insurance UK to ArgoGlobal.

Beefing up its credit and political risk offering, the Lloyd’s insurer has appointed Byrne as credit and political risk underwriter effective immediately. The former Aspen executive, who most recently served as acting global head of credit and political risk, has almost 10 years of underwriting experience.

Commenting on the appointment, credit and political risks class underwriter Jeremy Shallow described Byrne as an accomplished underwriter with a strong track record.

“His expertise and experience in this class will be key, as we continue to focus on meeting insureds’ needs through delivering comprehensive and bespoke coverage solutions that adapt alongside market developments,” said Shallow. “I am very pleased to welcome him to the team.”

A member of Argo Group International Holdings, ArgoGlobal specialises in writing worldwide property, marine, energy, aerospace, speciality, and non-US liability insurance through Syndicate 1200 at Lloyd’s of London.

“For over a decade, demand for credit and political risk cover has increased year-on-year,” noted Shallow. “Today’s changing economic landscape, coupled with an increasingly populist global political environment, has amplified companies’ exposure to this risk. We expect that demand for credit and political risk cover will continue to rise.”
