And with technology increasingly entering this space, insurance is expected to evolve with the new risks emerging.
“Most new cars today will have a certain amount of ‘automation’ in the form of smart systems, which offers a window of opportunity to any would-be hacker,” she says. “With technology evolving evermore into driverless vehicles, the insurance community needs to address the question of liability in the event of a collision as there is currently no answer as to who will accept liability when driverless cars collide. It means, of course, that motor trade insurance also needs to keep abreast of any future technological developments.”
