As a member of the group digital team, Will Bales’s role is focused on driving digital transformation projects for the broker and direct businesses across Hiscox’s global markets. His role is incredibly varied, involving projects such as redesigning and rebuilding multiple websites, setting the digital strategies for areas of the non-retail business, and providing strategic advice and training concerning social media to people across the Hiscox Group.
Bales joined Hiscox in 2014 after working in digital marketing across a range of industries including FMCG, a tech start-up and the charity sector. He also had a stint running his own search engine optimisation (SEO) consultancy. Bales has been nominated for Marketing Society’s ‘Ones to Watch’, a programme featuring the next generation of marketing leaders. He advises young professionals like him to be eager to take the next step and move forward: “Never be afraid to branch out, take every opportunity to travel, gain extra experience and learn new skills that come your way. Insurance is changing rapidly and the skills and the roles required by the business are too. Secondly, find a good mentor, be it within the company or externally. Learning from someone with those extra years in the industry can be invaluable.”
