P&C program administrator and wholesale brokerage Norman-Spencer has appointed Dave Cox to the role of managing director of its transportation division.

Cox has more than 30 years of experience in the transportation insurance industry, from field underwriting to serving as chief underwriting officer. He has also overseen four separate build-outs of transportation programs.

A release said that one of the first things Cox will be focusing on in his new role with Norman-Spencer is the development of a commercial auto liability program for regionally operated trucking fleets. The program will be backed by an AM Best “A-” rated carrier.

“Dave has been a clear leader in the industry for decades,” said Norman-Spencer president Brian Norman. “He has an outstanding track record of servicing the transportation industry with a hands-on approach and is dedicated to finding the path of least resistance for retail brokers in the placement of trucking risks.”

Norman stated that the addition of Cox into the Norman-Spencer team is the firm’s latest effort to deepen its concentration in the transportation sector.

“I’m thrilled to join the Norman-Spencer family, filling a need in their offerings and earning a place on their program shelf of robust services,” commented Cox, who added that he looks forward to expanding the company’s focus on commercial transportation, as well as strengthening current client relationships.

Following Cox’s appointment, Norman-Spencer is now accepting submissions from transportation retail specialists with trucking fleets risks of over 35 units.
