Mergers & Acquisitions

Two Kansas-based independent insurance agencies – Wood-Dulohery Insurance and Insurance Center Inc. (ICI) – have merged their operations under one name: Wood Insurance Center, LLC.

The merger, effective July 01, 2022, follows after Wood-Dulohery Insurance president Bob Wood announced that his partner and co-owner Mike Dulohery sold his interest in the firm. Dulohery will continue to serve as a consultant at this time, the company stated, while Wood will continue as president.

“This is an exciting time for both the firm and clients we serve,” said Wood. “With Mike’s decision to leave after 27 years with our company, we began to explore ideas to bring more opportunities to our clients and current team members.”

Wood added that he has known ICI president Ryan Murry and his team for years, and that ICI shares Wood Insurance’s “community-based philosophy and commitment to customer service.”

“They’re also one of the most progressive and successful insurance organizations in Kansas, and I’m looking forward to the future as we expand our services in this part of the state,” the president prefaced.

“ICI offers comprehensive insurance programs for complex commercial risks, home and auto, and everything in between,” added ICI president Ryan Murry. “We have expertise in many different industries, including transportation, construction, oil and gas, healthcare, senior living, manufacturing, education and public entities.”

Murry also commented that ICI’s employee benefits department created a unique, partially self-funded program for groups with 20 or more employees, and that the agency offers an in-house “360 Safety Program” to help clients improve their safety cultures.

“This is a new partnership between two firms that respect the need to continually innovate to bring the best insurance solutions to our clients,” said Murry. “I’ve known and respected the Wood-Dulohery agency for as long as I’ve been in the industry. Their focus on their clients and the communities they serve aligns very well with ICI’s values.”

Both Wood-Dulohery and ICI are members of Combined Agents of America (CAA).

Wood Insurance Center will continue to serve a four-state area with residential and commercial insurance solutions, a release said. Similarly, Wood-Dulohery’s two other divisions – WD Ag Services and Wood Dulohery Real Estate – will continue to operate with no change.
