Health Strategy Associates and CID Management, two companies specializing in healthcare costs and workers’ compensation management, are hosting a free, one-hour webinar Tuesday to help insurance professionals better understand how opioid use is affecting workers’ comp.
The presentation, entitled “Uncapping the Truth,” will reveal the results of a CID Management survey on the use of opioids in workers’ compensation. Health Strategy Associates Principal Joseph Paduda will present the webinar.
“Understanding the industry’s point of view on a vital issue such as opioid management is key to developing solutions to help manage the problem,” said CID’s Managing Partner Steven Cardinale. “The survey provides a much-needed lens from which to explore the direction thought leaders in workers’ compensation are moving.”
CID’s survey questioned more than 400 adjusters, claims managers and workers’ comp executives, as well as third-party administrators and employers. Respondents rated the effectiveness of regulators and other stakeholders in addressing opioid overuse, described programs to reduce that use and discussed how they track results.
Spokesperson Helen Knight said the webinar may be of particular interest to producers.
“Agents may really want to know what payers, including employers, are thinking about opioids [and] how they’re managing them,” she said.
