MNK Re has strengthened its energy division with the appointment of Mark Ritson (pictured above) as director of energy.
Ritson joins MNK Re with over 30 years of experience in energy insurance broking, covering upstream and downstream energy, power generation, and renewable energy projects worldwide.
He will work alongside the company’s existing energy team, with a focus on expanding MNK Re's business and growing its energy portfolio.

Known within the international insurance market, Ritson has particular expertise in Latin American energy projects. His previous role was at Amwins, where he guided clients through a challenging market environment marked by rising prices.
MNK Group CEO Manoj Kumar noted Ritson’s extensive experience and global network, stating that his appointment positions MNK Re to better assist clients in navigating the significant transformations expected in the energy sector in the coming years.
Ritson expressed his enthusiasm for joining MNK Re during a period of growth for the company. He noted the opportunities within the energy sector and emphasized MNK Re's advantage in its strong connections with underwriters across both traditional and alternative markets.
He also highlighted the firm's ability to provide clients with flexible solutions as a key factor in its ongoing expansion. The company’s energy division is expected to continue its focus on delivering specialized products to support clients in a changing market.
A few weeks ago, the independent reinsurance broker announced the appointment of Simon Ashby as executive managing director and global chief commercial officer.
Ashby brings nearly 40 years of experience in the insurance and reinsurance industries, having held senior positions in both broking and underwriting. His career includes over a decade in Bermuda as managing director of Marsh FINPRO Bermuda.
