Hamilton Global Specialty, an underwriting platform of Hamilton Insurance Group, Ltd. (has named Sinead Cormican as the new active underwriter for Syndicate 4000, the company announced Tuesday.

The promotion, effective April 1, 2025, pending regulatory approval, is part of Hamilton’s strategy to develop internal talent and strengthen its underwriting leadership at Lloyd’s of London.

Cormican, who has spent a decade with Hamilton, has served as deputy active underwriter since 2020. Before that, she led the company’s Property Direct and Facultative (D&F) business. She will report to Miles Osorio, Hamilton’s chief underwriting officer.

In addition to Cormican’s appointment, Hamilton named Sukh Chana and Mark Johnson as joint deputy active underwriters. Chana will continue in his role as head of financial institutions, a position he has held since Hamilton acquired Pembroke in 2019. Johnson remains head of property D&F, bringing 20 years of industry experience, including a decade at Hamilton.

The promotions follow the planned retirement of Trevor Ormes, deputy active underwriter and head of professional lines, who will leave the firm on April 30, 2025, after a 40-year career in the insurance industry.

The appointments come amid broader leadership changes at Hamilton. In February, the company named Mike Thorp as head of space and Chris Golder as head of treaty. Thorp, who joined Hamilton in 2015, was instrumental in launching its space underwriting business. Golder, who came on board in 2023, has 16 years of experience in the insurance sector.

Hamilton, which underwrites through Lloyd’s Syndicate 4000, Hamilton Insurance DAC in Dublin, and Hamilton Americas, has been expanding its specialty lines business. The company reported $2.4 billion in gross premiums written and $2.3 billion in shareholders’ equity at the end of 2024.
