The American Association of Managing General Agents (AAMGA) has welcomed eight Canadian MGAs to its membership association as it continues to expand its influence and reach throughout North American markets.

The eight organizations include:
  • Creechurch International Underwriters, Ltd. in Toronto, ON
  • Western Underwriting Managers, Ltd. in Vancouver, BC
  • Aurora Underwriting Services, Inc. in Edmonton, AB
  • National Brokerage Services, Inc. in Montreal, Quebec
  • Groupassur, Inc. in Saint-Leonard, Quebec
  • Beacon Underwriting, Ltd. dba Can-Sure Underwriters in Salmon Arm, B.C.
  • Angus-Miller, Ltd., in St. John, New Brunswick
  • Special Risk Insurance Managers, Ltd., in Langley, BC
Many of these MGAs look forward to the benefits that AAMGA membership provides.

“Membership in AAMGA allows our organization to be part of a larger conversation, to access education programs on emerging risks and to network with other MGAs and program managers all across North America,” said Nona McCreedy, owner of Aurora Underwriting Services. “We’re excited to join AAMGA and for the opportunity to reach markets worldwide through the association.”

AAMGA officials are also eager to take advantage of the knowledge and expertise that these Canadian underwriters bring to the table.

“Given the number of underwriting specialties currently in the wholesale insurance market and the multitude of opportunities within Canada, furthering our engagement with our colleagues is mutually beneficial,” said AAMGA incoming president Roger Ware.

Ware also hopes that this partnership will empower the eight MGAs to help shape the future of insurance underwriting in Canada.

“Our new Canadian members now have access to a deep network of resources and expertise, and AAMGA benefits by playing a bigger role in the shape of things to come in the Canadian insurance market,” he said.
