Is your boss making you sick?
Good luck tackling this issue with your clients; if their employees are frequently off sick it could be their fault. According to Jonathan D. Quick, a Harvard University medical expert, difficult bosses can lead to both mental and physical illness. Bad bosses can take many forms but include those who are hypercritical, make unwanted advances, bullies and those who are inept in their own role are among those who can create an underlying tension in the workplace that can lead to long term illness.
 
Energy companies could be terrorist target
An expert on terrorism says that the energy sector is well aware that it could be a target of terrorists. Speaking in the wake of the fatal shooting of a soldier in Ottawa, Gavin Cameron, a terrorism expert from the University of Calgary says that the energy companies have been concerned about terror threats for a number of years but although an attack on an energy company could cause significant damage and be a an attractive ‘symbolic target’ they are well protected and not easily accessible to the general public, making an attack complex.
 
UN says governments can still avert worst of climate change risk
A draft report from the United Nations says that governments still have time to act to mitigate the worst effects of climate change. Not acting it says could have "serious, pervasive and irreversible" impact on human society and nature. The report is due to be published on Sunday after being edited by scientists and government advisors from across the world who are meeting in Norway this week. Last Friday European Union leaders agreed to cut emissions by 40 per cent below 1990 levels by 2030; this will be achieved by moves away from fossil fuels towards renewable alternatives. China and Russia to sign treaty on cyber security
Both nations have been linked to high-profile cyber attacks on western organizations but now it seems the governments of China and Russia want to make it clear how they feel about the issue. It’s reported that a joint treaty will be signed by Beijing and Moscow on November 10th which will state that both states oppose the use of IT and the Internet to interfere in the internal affairs of international states. The agreement is said to go further than one that was signed between Russia and the US last year. Read the full story.
