Lost amid last week’s blockbuster Desjardins/State Farm announcement are the continuing number of expansions and acquisitions in the Ontario and Manitoba markets.

ClaimsPro, the country’s largest independent adjusting company, recently acquired North Country Adjusters, expanding in the northwestern Ontario and Manitoba region; while New Brunswick-based MGA Anderson McTague & Associates announced it is opening an office in Toronto to service brokers in those same provinces.

“Our recent acquisitions are a perfect fit with our strategic objectives of increasing our geographic footprint,” says Ken Hansen, Chief Financial Officer for SCM Insurance Services, “acquiring unique skill sets, and adding talented staff to our team.  It is a great way to start 2014 and we will continue to pursue similar opportunities in ClaimsPro and our other companies.”

North Country Adjusters was established in 1998 in Fort Frances, Ontario and services areas in Northwestern Ontario including Rainy River, Kenora, Red Lake, Dryden, Pickle Lake, and Thunder Bay.

“I am very proud of what we built at NCA and recognize the changing needs of our industry,” says Keith Knapp of North Country Adjusters. “ClaimsPro’s business model and leading edge technology will position us competitively in the market while still allowing us to provide the same level of service our clients in Northwestern Ontario have come to expect.” (continued.)

Anderson McTague is a wholly owned Canadian company that has been servicing the Atlantic Provinces for over 65 years.

“We know the market is competitive in Central Canada but we feel that we can fill a niche for the broker through communication and ease of handling.” Says Chuck McTague, president of Anderson McTague. “For example, we understand the pressures brokers deal with in terms of market availability and turnaround time when faced with last minute situations requiring coverage to be placed on Vacant Risks, Rental Properties and Seasonal Dwellings.”

McTague added that he will be announcing very shortly the hiring of a well-known industry veteran to lead the Ontario/Manitoba expansion efforts.
