Janelle Edem is the senior vice president and chief of staff of global risk solutions (GRS) at Liberty Mutual, charged with leading GRS’ strategic planning and process excellence work. She has been with Liberty Mutual since August 2005 and has held a number of senior leadership roles, most recently as vice president and national insurance and general manager of UPS distribution and service. She has also held leadership roles within various employee resource groups and diversity-focused councils at Liberty Mutual, including serving as an executive sponsor for Liberty Employees of African Descent and Allies. That group partnered with NAAIA to increase Liberty Mutual’s engagement with chapters in key insurance hubs around the country and helped launch NAAIA’s Boston chapter. Just this year, Edem has been recognised by Insurance Business America as one of the 32 insurance professionals Leading the Change in breaking down the racial barriers within the industry. She has a B.S. Mathematics/Actuarial Science degree from the University of West Indies, Mona, and an M.B.A in Strategic Management from The Wharton School.
