The Sullivan Group has been first in many things: The company first introduced D&O as a stand-alone coverage to healthcare organizations, and was among the first to offer billing E&O and embedded cyber/privacy coverage to physicians. It was also the first structured settlements consultant/ broker, and its staff created the first program to insure biotechnology.
The Sullivan Group started its specialty programs in the 1960s to manage hospital liability exposures. By the 1970s, the D&O program for hospitals and healthcare providers was in place; it’s currently the longest-running D&O program of any sort. The company is also the largest writer for two other programs: D&O for community associations and a program for auto dismantlers.
To maintain its reputation as being first to market, one of Sullivan Group’s core strategies is new product development. The company focuses on risks directly affiliated with selected industries to ensure it has a thorough understanding of the market, working only with carriers that are established experts in these industries.
