Ross Richey, President, Lawton Insurance
In 2009, at just 25 years old, Ross Richey became the owner of Lawton Insurance, which was established in 1899. Since taking the helm, Richey has completed 10 acquisitions and now operates seven locations across Kentucky, encompassing 40 employees and more than $5 million in annual revenues, including a 12% growth in revenue this year. In April, Richey partnered with an industry veteran in the public entity space to form a new business, Governmental Risk Insurance Plans, which works with other agencies across Kentucky to place and service city, county, public utilities and other government-related risks.
In addition to his duties as president and owner of multiple agencies, Richey is chairman of the Mid-Atlantic region and a member of the National Advisory Council at Safeco, former chairman of Young Agents of Kentucky, and a member of Western Kentucky University’s National Young Alumni Council. He has been named Young Agent of the Year by the Independent Insurance Agents of Kentucky, Young Entrepreneur of the Year by the Greater Muhlenberg Chamber of Commerce and named to Bowling Green Living magazine’s 40 Under 40.
