AIA Hong Kong has announced the opening of AIA Alta Wellness Haven, a new wellness initiative. Alongside this, the life insurer also announced AIA Club Alta, a proposition that caters to the needs of high-net-worth (HNW) customers, providing integrated financial and health advisory services in one suite.

AIA Alta Wellness Haven, as per the company, focuses on personalized solutions, while AIA Club Alta offers members an array of tailored benefits, spanning wealth management, health and wellness service privileges, and exclusive access to lifestyle events and experiences.

One of the pivotal aspects of the new initiative is offering dedicated health and wellness services for AIA Club Alta members. This initiative aligns with AIA Hong Kong's recent survey findings on the awareness and prevention of suboptimal health among HNW individuals, showcasing a high prevalence of suboptimal health symptoms in this segment.

Moreover, a commissioned survey by AIA Hong Kong in the Greater Bay Area revealed distinct perceptions and symptoms related to suboptimal health among HNW individuals. The findings underscored a higher prevalence of suboptimal health symptoms in Hong Kong and Macau compared to other cities in the GBA.

Other findings from the study revealed that:

  • 69% awareness of suboptimal health in other GBA cities
  • 55% awareness of suboptimal health in Hong Kong and Macau
  • Higher prevalence of suboptimal health symptoms in Hong Kong and Macau (2.6 symptoms per person) compared to other GBA cities (1.9 symptoms per person)
  • 81% of HNW individuals in Hong Kong and Macau exhibit suboptimal health symptoms, higher than non-HNW individuals (Hong Kong and Macau: 68%, other GBA cities: 71%)
  • Top five common symptoms of suboptimal health: fatigue, backache, irritability, anxiety, and insomnia
  • 85% of HNW individuals in other GBA cities and 68% of HNW individuals in Hong Kong and Macau are interested in the concept of a "one-stop wellness centre" providing comprehensive physical, mental, and spiritual care

In collaboration with New World Group's Humansa, AIA Alta Wellness Haven aims to address suboptimal health issues by nurturing mental, physical, and nutritional health. This one-stop wellness proposition also combines Eastern and Western philosophies, providing personalized wellness solutions and consultations to support HNW customers in achieving overall well-being.

“In HNW customers' pursuit of wealth and success, health is sometimes compromised, and as a result, this group can find themselves living in a state of suboptimal health,” AIA Hong Kong & Macau chief proposition officer Alice Liang said. “Our collaboration with New World Group's Humansa to build AIA Alta Wellness Haven answers HNW customers' aspiration to address suboptimal health issues. By focusing on nurturing mental, physical, and nutritional health, notably in aspects such as stress management, physical training and dietary management, AIA Hong Kong addresses the diverse needs of HNW customers by offering them premium value-added health services that go beyond insurance, bringing to life the objective, 'health is wealth.”

Recently, AIA Singapore chief customer and digital officer Melita Teo spoke to IB Asia about its ESG considerations, central to which is the health and wellbeing of its clients and customers.
