Malaysian Financial Planning Council names Michael Kok as president

The Malaysian Financial Planning Council (MFPC), the country’s umbrella body representing financial planning professionals and financial services providers, appointed Michael Kok Fook On as its new president at its 13th annual general meeting on Monday.

Previously the MPFC’s deputy president, Kok succeeds Md Adnan Md Zain, who said that 2016 was the most successful year for the council since its establishment 13 years ago.

A veteran of the insurance and financial planning industries, Kok has contributed vastly to the field of financial planning education in Malaysia and the Southeast Asian region. He served as president of the National Association of Malaysian Life Insurance and Family Takaful Advisors from 2008 to 2010.

As president and fellow of the MFPC, Kok will be in charge of the council’s nationwide operations, including its chapters in Sarawak, Penang, and Johor

Other officials appointed during the general meeting were: Vincent Kwo Shih Kang as deputy president; Phang Kar Yew, vice president of external relations and publicity; Victor Kho Chui Ing, vice president of membership; Dr. Ahcene Lahsana, vice president of research & publication; Andy Ng Yen Heng, treasurer; and Anuar Shuib as secretary.
