The top global trade credit insurer backed by Allianz has appointed the new regional heads of its Northern European and Asia Pacific divisions.
Euler Hermes, a subsidiary of the German insurer, has given the Northern European regional head post to Fabrice Desnos, who has been heading the Asia Pacific region since 2012. He will be relocating from Hong Kong to Brussels to oversee 16 countries in the region.
Desnos is succeeding Ludovic Sénécaut who has joined the Euler Hermes Group management board as chief operating officer responsible for operations and IT services.
“Fabrice Desnos has gained broad multi-sector, multi-country regional experience in the trade credit industry,” said Wilfried Verstraete, chairman of the Euler Hermes board of management.
“He will now bring the flexible, responsive, entrepreneurial spirit of the Asia Pacific region to northern European markets, as that area continues its economic recovery and manages ongoing socio-political volatility,” Verstraete added.
Replacing Desnos as the new head of the Asia Pacific region is Holger Schaefer, CEO of Allianz Global, Corporate and Specialty (AGCS) Pacific with responsibility for Australia and New Zealand. He will be moving from Sydney to Hong Kong.
Desnos and Schaefer will be taking on their new roles on June 1, continuing their long careers at Allianz and its subsidiaries.
Desnos joined Euler Hermes in 1996 and held senior financial positions in both France and the UK. He was appointed chief financial officer of Euler Hermes UK in 2003 and CEO in 2008.
Schaefer started at Allianz in 1985 and joined AGCS in 2007 as head of market management for Germany and global head of sales and market management in the company’s London headquarters.
