Aon Benfield, a division of Aon plc, has promoted its head of strategy Andy Marcell to president. The New York based executive will report to Aon Benfield CEO Eric Andersen.

In addition to his new executive responsibilities, his position as president will see Marcell play a wider and more active role in managing the global business and in supporting the firm’s ongoing growth strategies.

He joined Aon Benfield in August 2015 and for two years was responsible for growing the business and attracting new clients to the firm. Prior to that, he was with reinsurance broker Guy Carpenter’s as CEO of US operations and head of global facultative business.

“Andy has an admirable track record of industry experience and knowledge, and has an impressive skillset to become president of Aon Benfield,” Andersen commented. “He will provide strong leadership to our teams and he brings an international perspective to the role as we continue to grow our global business.”

The reinsurance intermediary and full-service capital advisor operates in more than 80 offices in 50 countries, including Australia, New Zealand, Japan, and China.
