ArgoGlobal, a Lloyd’s insurer and member of Argo Group, has announced the appointments of Jeremy Shallow as head of international specialty and Ross MacDonald as head of non-US international casualty. Shallow will report to John Moffatt, active underwriter of Syndicate 1200, while MacDonald will report to Nigel Mortimer, head of international casualty.

“ArgoGlobal is gearing up for a strong 2020 as we look to capitalise on the significant opportunities in the market,” Moffatt said. “ArgoGlobal has a wealth of talent within its business, and we are determined to nurture our team as we grow. Jeremy and Ross are outstanding underwriters with a deep understanding of their respective business areas. I look forward to working closely with them both as we enter the new year.”

Shallow has more than 14 years of industry experience. He joined Argo from Aspen in 2016 as a class underwriter for credit and political risks. Shallow began his career at WestLB AG (now Portigon Financial Services) in 2005.

MacDonald joined Argo in 2016 with nearly two decades of industry experience. Since 2017, he has led the syndicate general liability team. Prior to joining Argo, he ran the casualty specialty lines underwriting team at Zurich. He has also held broker roles at JLT and Marsh.
