Aspen Re appoints managing director for Asia-Pacific

Firm hires internally, naming former Europe and global property head to lead regional business

Aspen Insurance Holdings’ reinsurance segment (Aspen Re) has appointed Philip Hough as managing director for the Asia-Pacific region. He will be based in Singapore, reporting to Thomas Lillelund, Aspen Re’s chief executive officer.
 
Hough has been with Aspen since 2005, joining as a senior property reinsurance treaty underwriter. In 2007, he became head of the firm’s European property treaty business following the inauguration of its Zurich branch. In January 2015, he took on the capacity of global product head for the international property pro rata and per risk treaty portfolio.
 
Before being hired by Aspen, Hough was a vice president at Transatlantic Re in Paris. He began his insurance career in 1992 at Mercantile and General Reinsurance Company in London as a facultative underwriter.
