AXA Affin General Insurance (AAGI) has released a new home insurance suite for Malaysian homeowners, providing coverage for both home and valuable contents.

The new product, named AXA SmartHome Optimum (Enhanced), is meant to cater to consumers’ needs and address their concerns that home insurance can be complicated and frustrating.

The policy has options that fit various dwellings, including landed property, apartments, and condominiums. It is customisable to one’s needs and has two plans – consumers can pick either one or both.

Plan A is house-owner insurance, which protects the dwelling from losses and damages caused by fire, lightning, or flood; burst pipes; and house break-ins or theft. It also covers expenses caused by loss of rent, cost of temporary accommodation, and owners’ liabilities.

Meanwhile, Plan B is home contents insurance that covers personal and household belongings such as jewellery, furniture, musical instruments, and household appliances. This home contents cover has 11 additional benefits, including coverage from fraudulent use of credit/ATM card, fire extinguishment expenses, and fraud or dishonesty by domestic helper. It also provides an emergency cash allowance for other expenses.

“A place we call home is a valuable asset in our life. It needs to be safe and protected from any loss or damage that may set us back financially,” said Emmanuel Nivet, chief executive of AAGI.

“Every home is different, be it its location, fittings, fixtures or market value. By leveraging on our home insurance proposition, we hope to empower our customers with a plan that is simple yet flexible, and, most importantly, tailored to their budget and needs,” he added.
