Berjaya Sompo Insurance Bhd, a general insurance company based in Malaysia, has announced the appointment of Tan Sek Kee as chief executive officer, effective immediately.
 
Tan, 52, succeeds Dato’ Loh Lye Ngok, who will retire after 16 years at the helm but will still remain with the company as a director and senior adviser.

“After a rigorous and extensive search, the Board concluded that Tan’s leadership and immense experience in the industry, along with his strong track record of success as a senior officer made him the outstanding candidate for the role,” commented Nobuhiro Kojima, Sompo Holdings (Asia) Pte Ltd president and managing director. “With his market-leading expertise and proven leadership skills, I am confident that he will lead Berjaya Sompo into its next chapter of growth.”
 
Tan has 25 years’ experience in the insurance industry, having held several senior management roles in sales and marketing, strategic planning, operations, underwriting, and claims. An associate member of AMII (The Associateship of the Malaysian Insurance Institute), Tan obtained his bachelor’s degree in actuarial science from the London School of Economics.
